Modified Lockdown at Clovis East
March 21, 2017 at 12:11 PM
This is an important message from Clovis East and Reyburn Intermediate Principal, Kevin Kerney. The modified lockdown at Clovis East High School has been lifted and students are proceeding to third period. The modified lockdown occurred after a student reported an injury in which he was cut on his abdomen by another student. It has been determined in the course of the investigation that the incident was isolated to the two students. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. before the start of school. The injured student walked to class and reported the incident to a staff member, who immediately acted to provide medical assistance and notify school officers. Our safe school plan was effectively implemented and officers were able to quickly make an arrest related to the incident. Classes at Clovis East and Reyburn were placed on modified lockdown immediately in order for officers to conduct their investigation and Reagan Elementary was placed on a Facility Alert. We are proud of the quick and calm way that the entire campus responded to this incident and investigation and the fact that, working collaboratively with Clovis Police Department, were able to quickly make an arrest and return our campus to the normal operating schedule by 10 a.m.
